“Dr. Roboto: How robotics is transforming orthopaedics”

Healthcare is a complex and ever changing industry including innovations of technology to assist surgeons improve their patient outcomes. A variety of robotic technologies have been introduced in different surgical fields with the greatest benefit realised in orthopaedic surgery. The Mako robotic arm assisted surgical system provides surgeons with enhanced planning features and robotic-arm assisted execution for total hip, partial and total knee replacement surgery. These advancements have led to the potential for more accurate implant positioning, faster recovery and less pain, fewer complications, and reduced healthcare costs. Michael will discuss how this technology works and why it will transform orthopaedics.
