Ms. Swee-Yeok Chu has been the Chief Executive Officer of EDB Investments since late 2008 and serves as its President and Director. She is responsible for transforming EDBI into an active strategic investor, supporting the fast growing innovative sectors of Information and Communication Technology, Biomedical Sciences, Smart and Sustainable Technology, and other strategic sectors.

Ms. Chu is a Partner at Ooyala, Inc. Prior to EDBI, Ms. Chu was the Chief Executive Officer at Bio*One Capital since 2004. Under her leadership, Bio*One Capital became a globally recognized and reputable investment entity. Ms. Chu previously held senior positions at the Singapore Economic Development Board where she was instrumental for industry strategy development and implementation including establishing several venture funds and providing oversight to their management.

Ms Chu previously held senior positions at EDB and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) where she played a pioneering role in developing major policies and executing the industry, research and commercialisation strategies leading to the growth of the biomedical sector and its contribution as a major pillar of Singapore’s economy today.

Ms. Chu also serves on the boards of Merlion Pharmaceuticals Pte Ltd, S*Bio Pte Ltd, Triton Water AG, Silecs Oy, Xinya Media Pte Ltd, and Singapore-Suzhou Township Development Pte Ltd. She also serves on the board of Novartis Institute for Tropical Diseases (NITD). She served as a Director of ES Cell International Pte Ltd. She has over 25 years of track record and extensive experience in equity investments of start-up to growth and late-stage ventures, strategic planning, business and technology development for industries.

Prior to SGInnovate, SzeKi’s long career in marketing included leading teams with global technology brands such as Hewlett Packard, Motorola and Nokia regionally and globally. Her 15 years at Motorola saw her in various leadership positions including Head of Marketing - Asia Pacific for Motorola Networks, and Head of Marketing - Asia and Middle East for Motorola Solutions. At Nokia Siemens Networks (now Nokia), SzeKi was the Global Head of Customer Marketing for their Global Services organisation.

Mr Kai Hoo Quek serves as the Vice President of Exploit Technologies Pte Ltd – the commercialization arm of A*STAR, a government-owned research organisation with 5,000 plus headcount. Previously, Mr Quek served as the Head of Investments at Rowsley Ltd. since August 2010 until May 2016. 

Mr. Quek also served as a Director of Investment & Corporate Affairs of Unisteel Technology Ltd. and served as its Director of Strategic Business. He led the M&A activities and served as a General Manager at Unisteel Technology Ltd., a company that was listed on Singapore Exchange and later bought out by private equity firm KKR. He has extensive experience in private equity, mergers & acquisition ("M&A") and operations management. He evaluated and carried out direct investments and fund-of-fund investments with Rothschild Ventures, Temasek Holdings, HRJ Capital and Kestrel Capital Partners.

He was based in Shanghai for two years as the Chief Rep of HRJ Capital’s representative office there.  Mr Quek holds Master of Science degree in Industrial & Operation Engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). Additionally, he is also a CFA charterholder, which he obtained in 2004.

Prior to this, Mr. Graboi was an Internet Research Analyst at CIBC World Markets., Research Division covering the ISP, digital media, e-commerce, enabling technology, and infomediary sub-sectors.

Prior to his research experience, Mr. Graboi was a founding member of CIBC World Markets' Internet team. Before that, he was a general technology investment banker, with transactional experience in the telecommunications equipment, infrastructure and enterprise software and semiconductor equipment, device and component spaces. His transaction experience includes M&A and strategic advisory assignments, and equity financing. Mr. Graboi has also worked for the Center for Business-Government Relations. He was a Senior Research Analyst at Glass, Lewis & Co. LLC.

He received a B.S. in Finance and International Business, Magna Cum Laude, from Georgetown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker scholar, and a Juris Doctor (magna cum laude) from Harvard Law School.
